    A Nearly Half-Century Telluride Tradition

The Telluride Bluegrass Festival traces its roots to a 4th of July celebration headlined by The Fall Boys, a local bluegrass band, in 1973. Based on the success of this event, the Bluegrass Festival was founded by members of The Fall Boys in 1974. Over the years, the festival has grown and expanded to feature many of the biggest names in bluegrass, as well as occasional performers from outside the genre.

The festival includes the daytime main stage acts, the festival also features shows at more intimate indoor venues at night, called NightGrass. If you happen to be in town, but don't wish to buy tickets, you can catch the free kickoff show in the park, FirstGrass. Many festival goers enjoy camping in the campground, but it's much more comfortable to stay indoors, especially with the erratic Colorado weather.
